Editorial contract
Popularity finds candidates.
Evidence earns publication.
DevPulse is not an automated summary feed. It is a bounded edition whose claims can be inspected, challenged and corrected.
- 01
Collect
The collection job checks Hacker News engineering signals, six tracked GitHub release repositories, and the official Hugging Face, PyTorch and Kubernetes feeds. Source failures are recorded separately from empty feeds.
- 02
Resolve
Official-feed links must remain within their publisher's article domain and path. Other candidates require an editor to establish that the linked page is the original source, not a repost or unsupported social claim.
- 03
Cluster
Reports about the same event are grouped before ranking so repetition cannot masquerade as importance.
- 04
Rank
Source category, publication recency and capped Hacker News engagement determine the shortlist. Independent corroboration and engineering consequence are editorial judgments, not automated ranking signals.
- 05
Draft
A model may extract claims and draft context. It has no tools, network access or secrets.
- 06
Verify
Code checks source URLs and whether a quote appears in the fetched text. Text matching alone cannot establish that a claim is true or that the quote supports it.
- 07
Review
A human checks claim support, context and counterpoints before approving the edition pull request. One lead and two to six supporting stories survive.
- 08
Revisit
Editors can publish a dated correction or a later follow-up when material evidence changes. There is no automatic seven-day reassessment. Corrections remain visible.
Model boundary
What the model cannot decide
- The source URL, source date or shortlist score
- Whether a proposed claim is factually correct
- Whether counter-evidence has been adequately considered
- Human approval or final publication
Exact-quote and numeric-claim checks are safeguards, not semantic fact-checking. An editor must still examine every headline, summary and conclusion.
Correction policy
When we get it wrong
The card is updated with a dated note, the original claim remains in version history, and the correction appears in the public log. Significant reversals return in a later edition.
